Overview

The Type R is the sportiest of the Honda Civic family, building on the popular compact's hatchback body style with equally wild styling additions.

What's New/Key Changes from Last Year

New for 2021 is a limited edition of 100 units for Canada, all of which sold out within 4 minutes of its official announcement. This Type R LE exclusively in Phoenix Yellow is equipped with 20-inch lightweight forged aluminum BBS wheels that reduce unsprung weight by 18 pounds total, and the rims are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Total weight has been further reduced compared to the regular Type R by decreasing the use of sound-deadening materials.

Otherwise, the Type R carries over unchanged from 2020.

Available Versions

The Civic Type R comes as a single version equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission with limited-slip differential and front-wheel drive. Honda extracts 306 horsepower from it.

Standard Features

On the outside, the Civic Type R receives 20-inch wheels and performance tires, Brembo front brakes, a triple exhaust tip, LED fog lights and taillights, a keyless passive entry system, heated/power-adjustable exterior mirrors, and speed-sensing intermittent wipers.

Inside, you'll find a 7.0-inch digital gauge display, an auto-dimming interior mirror, a navigation system, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth technology, power windows, tilt and telescopic steering, a wireless charging system for mobile devices, a six-way adjustable driver's seat and a four-way adjustable front passenger seat, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and a 12-speaker stereo system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Civic Type R's safety suite includes forward collision detection with automatic braking, lane change warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and Honda LaneWatch blind spot display.
